Hurricane Policy
Our primary concern is the well being of your dog(s) here at the Weenie Resort & Day Spa. We are located in the Southwest Florida area, which puts our area prone to hurricanes and tropical storms through the summer months (June 1st-November 30th). We are Florida born and raised, and hurricane veterans. We monitor the weather closely and if a storm appears to be approaching, we work to keep our doggy parents updated on our plan should conditions worsen. My family does not Evacuate! We have ridden out each local storm that has passed. We have provisions set for our own dogs and the same will apply to yours in the unfortunate event you have no choice to leave them with us.
In the event of a severe Hurricane impacting our area, the potential for loss of electricity, air conditioning, phone service and fresh water would limit our ability to provide the optimal care that your pets need and deserve. Lack of these provisions could seriously impact the quality of care that we would be able to provide, which could additionally have an impact on the facility, our operations, and our resources. It is difficult to predict how we will reunite you with your dog(s) after the hurricane has passed. Please don’t enter roadways to get to us afterwards, there may be down trees and powerlines along with flooding.
If a hurricane WATCH is put into effect for the Southwest Florida area, we recommend that you consider making alternate arrangements. If your dog is already boarding with us you will be contacted to suggest a possible transfer of your dog. All dogs boarded during a hurricane watch must have 2 local emergency contacts that are willing to retrieve the dog should it become necessary.

If a hurricane WARNING is put into effect for Southwest Florida, no boarding reservations will be accepted. Owners of animals already in the facility will be contacted and highly advised to transfer their dog(s), if a transfer or other arrangements can not be made and we have to retain your dog(s) during a hurricane there will be an added safety charge (up to but not limited to $800, in addition to their boarding rate). This is not to gouge you, but you have then put us in the position to care for your dog during a possible natural disaster that we should fully be compensated for. Failure to have your dog transferred /relocated during a Natural Disaster, you now release Weenie Resort & Day Spa of any liabilities.
